Machine Vision:
Machine Vision is an effective method of assessing the compliance of physical specifications of any component manufactured on a repetitive basis. It uses advanced imaging technologies and lighting systems, and appropriate software.
First the images are captured or created which then is processed further using appropriate customized or open source software.
Various quality assessment tasks that can be under taken are : Inspection – dimensional measurement and flaw detection; verification – label reading and registration; sorting, identifying presence or absence of components; checking completeness of all components in an object, checking for burrs, crack, warping; checking surface finish such as stains, smears, colour blemishes surface discontinuous etc. Machine Vision system is normally integrated with automation systems for process and quality control.
Introduction of Machine Vision in quality control will enhance the quality of the product, improve the speed of inspection, avoid the human errors due to fatigue, oversight, judgment, inattentiveness etc.
In addition to Machine Vision system usage in automotive components manufacturing, it is also used in pharmaceuticals, PCB and electronic component manufacturing, fabric / paper / glass manufacturing, label reading etc.
